Withdrawn from sale “to avoid a breach of local content laws.”

  1. just to clarify it wasn't banned in India, it was pulled out for presumed violation of the law . This was most probably a publicity stunt as the expected sales weren't high and even if a conservative government is in power there are more conservative counties playing the game. If for the past 20 years not a single conviction was made based on this law and for the past 3 years it was legal  i doubt a game was going to be controversial…..sincerely an Indian who is neutral on the issue but wants games to be left out of politics as games are there to leave reality for peaceful blissful moments

  2. I dont thing it is wrong being gay but it must be optional like in previous bioware games where even sex scenes were optional .not releasing the game is just taking it too far bcz apart from those scenes the actual other 95% of the game is absolutely beautiful and stunning hell it is being compared to skyrim i was really very excited to play this game but they didnt even released. And it woudnt even effect a little to people no one gives a sh*t about video games in india and i guarantee 90% of population woudnt even know if this game even existed

  3. But the gay sex scenes in all the dragon age and mass effect games are a choice the player makes its not forced on you, don't get me wrong I haven't played Inquisition yet but I would think its still a choice the player makes and not forced on you so what's the big deal? id be pissed off if I was forced to not be aloud to play the game because of that

  4. Hmmm … a culture that seems to be both homophobic and deeply mysogynistic … sorry India, you've screwed any chance of my spending my tourist dollars in your country. Not interested.

  5. You know, I can't think of a single AAA release outside of this game in all of 2014 that gives you the option for a realistic gay romance. (The operative word being OPTION). And yet, there's a whole slew of comments of people asking "Why would they even bother?" "Only straight guys play these games!" and so on and so forth.

Well first off, I'm sorry, straight males. I'm sorry that you apparently have SO few games where straight male characters are the main protagonists. I know there are just so few games where the guy gets the girl. I'm sorry you feel SO completely under-represented that you can't STAND even the simple option of allowing a gay romance (OPTION!!!!) into a single AAA release in all of 2014.

You know why this is? I don't, but I can certainly hazard a guess. You've spent so long feeling like gaming only belongs to the straight guy club. But it doesn't. More people are gamers than ever before, and I for one think that's a mighty fine thing. And with that comes a lot of diversity. Roughly half of all gamers are women. And you can bet that at least one person on your friend list is probably gay. All you straight guys have been the SOLE focus of the gaming industry for so long that it feels strange and weird to suddenly have all these options being added. It was only one or two years ago that FPS games started offering the use of female avatars in online play, and Mass Effect was the first major series I ever played that looked to me and said, "Hey, I acknowledge that you exist." It was the first time I got to play a character my way including getting the guy instead of the girl. (I couldn't get the guy I wanted, but eh that's life sometimes) And that made me feel included, like I could really be one of the community.

Allowing for stronger minority characters and a wide array of options for romance does nothing to diminish the value of the game. You can still create your macho dude and date every girl in the game. No-one is stopping you and no-one is TRYING to stop you. And you still have all the usual super-sexy-explosion-gears-of-battle-field-warfighter-Micheal-Bay power fantasies. Those certainly aren't going away. And no-one is going to take away your porn either.

But stop recoiling every time a game developer decides to include a new group of people in their games. That's the stigma that lets people outside the community assume that gamers are all narcissistic jerk-offs who hate everyone. And I know we're (mostly) not! Yes, gay people exist. Yes, women exist. Hell, I'd still love to see an African American leading character in a AAA game (and no, the drill sergeant doesn't count, that cliche is exceptionally old). It opens up new narrative possibilities, new struggles, new problems to solve and new worlds to explore. Isn't that something you want? Like I said, you'll always be able to shoot things in the face. But don't have a panic attack because the game has an option for something you don't have to do.

  6. NOOOOOO!!! WTF!
I'm from India and I want to play this game so Bad,(No-Homo) I like Rpg's and Loved Dragon Age 2. It's unfair, idk what the hell is wrong with my country why are they butt-hurt about gays, when in reality I see a lot gays here in India.

  7. I don't understand why people automatically mark others as homophobic if they don't it. People have issues with it, yet they are expected to drop their own believes and accept, or run the risk of being targeted? Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.

  8. next time bioware shouldnt include gay sex scenes or  an option to have a relationship with same sex in the game. They should also stop creating gay and lesbian characters in the game. its just pointless. they're always doing this to their games like mass effect series. stick to male-female romance options! its so much better. If theres an option to kick out dorian in the inquisition ill do it. haha

  9. AMERICA WILL BE JUDGED FOR THE VAST AMOUNT OF ENCOURAGEMENT SINFUL AND LUSTFUL HOMOSEXUALS RECIEVE COME THE DAY OF RAPTURE. I suggest you REPENT and find love with WOMAN as MAN should! India has morals!!

  10. Homosexuality has been around since ancient times why this is a problem in 2014 is simply beyond me, let people do what they want and I find the whole idea of religion ridiculous but at the same time I respect peoples rights to believe and do as they like, so religious people should do the same and should not try to preach their Ideology to people that don't want to hear it.

  11. I am indian & proud to be indian, our culture is not like this & we are the oldest & richest culture till mugal invaded .they screwed our culture totally now they are the part of my countries DNA which is harming alot.anyways back to gay thing yaa i am not favor of it as it is not natural.but i disappointing in ea because they can easily alter the mode & remove the gay things from the game re-publish but i don't know why they are doing it.i was not going to buy if it is release in india but other gamers want it.sorry for them as indian gaming market is huge.big loss for ea.want to add another thing which is very important that all the countries goverment should ban porn only clean porn no other,it changes mentality of a person totailly .he becomes unstable & angry doesn;t think good thing abot women.

  12. Probably for the best, EA shouldn't risk pissing off India

But surely EA/Bioware should have realised this would have been an issue and removed the option for Gay relationships just for the Indian Customers(and for other countries that have these laws)

  13. What is it with youtube's comment section being so good at completely eradicating my faith in humanity? That people can be so intolerant, so needlessly hateful, so bigotted, isn't new, but being reminded of it constantly is is just depressing.
